[It's very, VERY rare these days that Pinkie Pie has a free day to herself. Between party planning, hanging out with her friends, babysitting, baking for the Cakes, and the increasingly frequent magical adventure, plus or minus summoning, any lesser pony would've collapsed from sheer exhaustion. But that's Pinkie Pie for you: the epitome of extroversion, and always with enough energy and smiles for everypony.
Today, though, there's absolutely, positively nothing on Pinkie Pie's calendar. And there's this triple chocolate, quadruple berry trifle she's been DYING to try out, and there's a razzledazzleberry bush near the lake that'd be perfect for making it a triple chocolate, QUINTUPLE berry trifle. So off she goes, skipping along the road leading out of the town proper, humming out loud.]
[It's a funny thing, really. One minute, you're piloting a spaceship through space, and then the next you're dropping from the sky and landing on something soft and fluffy. Cheese could never have predicted that is how his day would go when he woke up this morning. Not even with a hundred billion guesses. But suddenly drop from the sky onto the aforementioned person of fluffiness is exactly what has happened to him.
He flops to one side with a groan, Boneless 2 dropping a few seconds after him to land on his head with a honk, bouncing off to lay on the ground, staring up at him with accusatory rubber eyes. ]
Ouch. Did I hit the teleporter by acci-
[He finally looks at the person he's landed on, expecting some alien from whatever planet the Bishop is currently hovering above to find this is, in fact, a pony. Not just any pony, either. The best of ponies. ]
[Honestly, she wouldn't have either, what with space travel not being A Thing in their world yet. Her tail DOES twitch, followed by the REST of her body before there's not even time to react before a LOT of weight comes dropping onto her, followed by a squeak somewhere near her head.]
Ooooh yup, that sure is a doozy...~
[Give her a sec to focus on whatever landed on her, world needs to stop spinning first.]
[Cheese meanwhile spends some time processing what is happening to him. It's Pinkie, she is here, she isn't some crazy hallucination, she's here and she's solid and real. He glances skyward, seeing only clear Equestrian skies. There are no spaceships. This isn't the Fleet.
...Did he suddenly get home??
He turns his focus back on Pinkie again and his quickly breaks into a smile, which itself quickly turns into a grin. She's the first pony he's laid eyes on in nearly two years and if he could pick any pony for that title, he would absolutely pick her. Every time. ]
[Yup, solid and real and kind of laying under him in a compromising position but it seems like neither of them notice. Once Pinkie shakes her head clear and that warm golden-orange coat, brown curly mane, and those green, green eyes come into focus again, she gasps in delight and grins herself, wrapping her forelegs around him in a tight hug.]
Cheese Sandwich! It's really YOU! What are you doing here?!
[He'll laugh happily (and possibly a little hysterically) because it's her. In all her Pinkie Pie Perfectness. He return the hug, happily riding on that wave of pure joy she seems to exude wherever she goes. He's home and he's with her. ]
I have absolutely no idea! I thought I'd literally drop in and pay you a visit.
Heeheehaha, good one, Cheese! Wow, you REALLY know how to drop in! Today must REALLY be my lucky day! Are you planning another party in Ponyville? [GASP!] One I don't even know about yet?! Here I thought today was a free day!
[He's free to throw parties again. Sure, he could throw them on the Fleet, and BOY did he throw them, but it wasn't the same. Humans party differently to ponies. ]
There's no rest of us, Pinkie. No rain or snow or vicious dragon attack can keep us from pinning up a piniata or setting off streamers. I'm sure we can find SOME reason to celebrate. How about... The Two Best Party Ponies Ever Comeback Special? It's got a nice ring to it, right?
[He was going for "I'm Free From A Psychotic Space Show Party" but the other one sounds better ]
[True, though can't go wrong with the classic "A Date" either-- and then the narrator was carted away for being shipper trash.]
Oh my gosh, that sounds awesome~! Forget triple chocolate, quintuple berry trifles, THIS is what I wanna do today! Where should we start?! And you've GOTTA tell me what you mean by "viscious dragon attack"!
[Aaaand maybe about the Psychotic Space Show. At some point. No rush, though.]
[It'd been a long, crazy roller coaster journey, but eventually the Fleet released everybody to their homes, including their little ponies. Even better, they were able to remember everything too, including their relationship, and back in Equestria it grew even more, now that they no longer had to worry about the Atroma taking it away.]
[He was honestly so glad that he'd been able to remember. That Atroma hadn't ripped it out of their hooves like he's seen it do so many unfortunates before them. He doesn't know why they were so lucky, but he's eternally glad they were.
And now they're home. Well. It's about time he did something else. He wanted to do it back in the Fleet, but was afraid, lest Atroma saw it as a reason to take them away from one another. All about the ratings.
Ratings don't matter, here, though. He can finally be honest with his feelings- or rather, about what he want to do ABOUT them. It doesn't make him any less nervous, and he bounces back on his hooves with nervous excitement (nevouscitement, if you will) as they wander through Ponyville. ]
I know, right? They'll be talking about this one for moons.
[He was still getting used to it, really, using the old Equestrian vernacular. He's been a long time from home, it's taken some...adjusting to be back in a world full of him, instead of just...well, two of them.
Before...before, this is when he'd start to move on. Head off down the road. Go follow whatever his Cheesy Sense told him to. Another party. Another town. He still knows, deep down, he'll have to listen to that call eventually. Destiny, and all that.
But to have an actual home to come back to, somewhere to be his centerpoint. That was a new idea. Ponyville could be it, but what was really his idea home was Pinkie. Just her. ]
[It was definitely a nice change of pace, not having to say goodbye to him right after a party. And being able to enjoy the quiet just walking side-by-side and lightly leaning against him.]
[Hearts & Hooves Day was always one of the smaller festivities on the Equestrian calendar, usually reserved for couples to get some alone time or for some casual spreading of platonic love. (Although there were always plenty of heart-themed treats at Sugarcube Corner, especially baked and taste tested by Ponyville's pinkest and primest party pony.) But every day is special to Pinkie Pie, holiday or not and no matter how small. But even she doesn't quite know how special today's Hearts & Hooves Day is going to be.]
[Indeed, it was a Hearts and Hooves that would bring her one Cheese Sandwich from his travels. He likes to come to Ponyville, finding some excuse or other to be there when he wasn't heading to or running a party. It wasn't quite home, but it was the closest thing he had to one.
He headed right for Sugarcube corner, a big grin on his face as he entered the sweet-smelling building. ]
[Meanwhile, Pinkie's ducked behind the counter to arrange a display but pops up at the sound of the bell on the door.]
Welcome to Sugarcube-- Eeeee!!! [And the next second she's somehow teleported over the counter to glomp the fellow party pony.] Cheese Sandwich, it's you~!
Hahaha you've got me there! [She pulls back just enough to look at him.] How've you been? Are you just stopping by, or [GASP!] are you doing something for Hearts & Hooves Day HERE?!

Yeah... Yeah, we really are... [She leans against him even more.] I'll ALWAYS be thankful for that, Cheesy.

[Okay. Doing the thing. He clears his throat. ]
And I was thinking. How Ponyville can be...well,, like a home for me. To come back to. You know...when I'm not travelling.
