He stares at Kirk like he's grown another head for a moment. People don't usually compliment him- they tend to make the (usually rightful) conclusion that he's a volatile mess and keep their distance from him. And now here's Kirk, just listing off the things he likes about him like it's nothing.
Maybe he's crazy?
"I...um. I suppose that is a good reason," a pause. "...Alright."
Oh, make no mistake, he knows that Fenris is volatile and has a bit of temper and can be cantankerous. He's seen all of that in watching him, but one can't really expect a person to be good all the time. They have their bad sides, their bad traits, but you like them in spit of that and he felt that now about Fenris.
Kirk became the equivalent of a small sun when the other agreed, bouncing a little in his seat.
"How does Tuesday at 8 sound?" he asked, clearly having all of this planned already.
Fenris watches the gleeful bouncing with no small amount of trepidation. He is absolutely not bouncing. That is a very specifically planned time and date, but Fenris will allow it. This clearly means a lot to the man, and if he were honest, Fenris finds himself a little excited about it himself.
"Alright. That sounds acceptable." a pause. "...I look forward to it."
"I'll come by and we can walk together? There's a pub nearby I thought we
could go to. Kettledown. I thought we could sit on the patio if there's
good weather," he smiled, taking up the lighter as he did so and reaching
out to light the candle on the cupcake.
Fenris turned to give his staff a good, solid glower, just in case that gave them ideas. They seemed a little too bouncy for his liking. Singing would probably come if he wasn't careful. They'd take their chances. He exhaled.
"Fine."
He leaned in and blew the candle out. With precisely zero ceremony.
"Well now you have to eat it," he said, taking the candle out of the icing
and after a brief debate sucking the tip clean of icing - the bottom, not
the top, he's not an idiot. He dropped it into the bag by way of a trashcan
and slid a fork Fenris' way. Not a conventional way to a eat a cupcake, but
he didn't think Fenris was the type to just grab the thing either. Or he
might, and it would be cute. Any way he ate it would be cute, honestly.
Fenris stared at that candle sucking a little too long and intently than was strictly polite or decent. It took him a moment to realise he was being spoken to again. He blinked before clearing his throat, flushing a little.
"Right. Of course."
He reached over to take the fork, because he will absolutely eat it nicely and not just chow down on it. He takes a careful forkful, putting it in his mouth. He smiles around the fork. It was delicious.

What? You thought he had forgotten?

Jeez, Fenris, don't sound so damn surprised. He glances at the cake rolling his eyes. Damnit, he thought he'd forgotten.
"I still have to blow out the candle?"
no subject
"Yes. If you don't hurry your staff might actually run over and start singing," he said, leaning forward to watch.
