That was, ultimately, the biggest flaw in La Muerte's blessing. Having a pure and courageous heart meant Manolo did things without thinking them through. Whatever his heart told him to do, he did, unflinchingly. It's a bit of a double edged sword.

He returns the kiss, so glad that he can do so, that she chose him. When he breaks it, he rests his forehead against hers.
